Session: “Disability and Intersectionality: Conversations with Education Abroad Alumni with Disabilities”

When: Thursday, June 3, 2021 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time

Going abroad often challenges people to explore identity in surprising ways. Study abroad alumni reflect on their experiences abroad, touching on the dynamics and interplay between disability, nationality, race, ethnicity, gender, and more. Their stories demonstrate how international education can help people better understand other individuals’ identities.

Poster Session: “Pathways Abroad for Students with Intellectual Disabilities”

When: Thursday, June 3, 2021 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Eastern Time during the Poster Fair Roundtable: Increasing Diversity Outreach and Support in International Education

Explore the current landscape of pioneering Comprehensive Transition Programs (CTPs) across the U.S. that support students with intellectual disabilities to access higher education. Then find examples of CTP students who enriched their college experiences through study or volunteer abroad and the strategies that made their experiences inclusive.
