Funding is, by far, the most common concern that seems to come up for people with and without disabilities who aspire to go abroad.
And there really is quite a lot to fund. Apart from the program tuition, there are living costs, healthcare costs, and often, disability costs. It can all seem quite daunting, but putting together a plan and identifying your options can bring your exchange goal into reach. In this module we will cover:
- Planning your budget,
- Identifying affordable programs,
- Scholarships,
- Vocational rehabilitation,
- Social Security and
- Fundraising
Let’s get started.
NCDE is a project of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, designed to increase the participation of people with disabilities in international exchange between the United States and other countries, and is supported in its implementation by Mobility International USA.
Lets begin this section by going over the different options for paying for an exchange experience.
